Altapura, the first 5 star hotel at Europe’s highest resort, Val Thorens, where 99% of the ski terrain is above a snow-sure 2000m, is a hotel of the future.

Designed especially for skiers and mountain lovers it combines the best décor with the latest technology to create a multisensory space harbouring a haven of conviviality and leisure “mountain style”.

Boasting 88 bedrooms, 16 of them suites, three great restaurants, several bars, a spectacular 1000m2 spa and its own ski shop, guests at Altapura want for nothing.

In the bedrooms the mélange of warm wood tones and vibrantly coloured soft fabrics are echoed in the welcoming bedding and bespoke line of furniture designed by Nicolas and Jean-Louis Sibuet, behind the huge bay windows overlooking the Cime Caron. Natural stone, the major feature in the bathrooms, makes up the final element in creating this mountain atmosphere.

The Altapura’s Spa Pure Altitude is dedicated to muscular relaxation, physical preparation and recuperation. A key feature is the Nordic Spiral, an alternating world of dry and humid heat, punctuated by waterfall showers, and culminating in the igloo for some snow treatments. The tour is completed by a relaxation séance or a Scandinavian massage with the oils of three types of fir tree. Bliss.
